Post by WLHack Fri Jan 09, 2009 3:00 pm

A pretty ominous title for a topic... Usually predicts
announcements of cancellation, but not this time.

Both ToS and Desertfox are doing fine and although
I released small spritepackage, I am still working
    with both mods.

Currently I am converting my old Dos code to SDL
to free myself from those annoying memorybugs
that were already present in Wintersturm.

But conversion to SDL hasn't been fluent.
During first test runs, I managed to compile new exe with
ease - but I ran into problems right away...

Vista had hard time running the game (the menus and the
playscreen loaded really slow) and all the colors were corrupted.
I checked the files, disabled all special features, corrected the palette
and so on but with no result.

I have already redownloaded the source and I hope that it will help
to solve the problem (propably I just overlooked something and
while adding new featurs I accidently deleted something important from
    the source).

Well, anyway there is not much to say from the current progress...
So, I have finished army now - and I have more time to mod.

Awesome to see you back Toni and great to here that these mods are again being worked on. You're mods are always incredibly entertaining to play and you always bring something new when you release a mod! Good luck with them.

I decided to make 4-5 levels testmod, and I hope to release it
within the next month (as SDL now works all the important coding
    is already done)...

The mod will be based on abandoned ToS mission idea and is
named as "Träumende" (rather theathrical, eh?).

    Story short*:

    ===

Berlin in the end of World War II - chaos has taken the streets
as Allied forces are continuosly bombing the cities.

Also the mighty nazi warmachine has been torn apart and the Americans
and Russian are advancing to the heart of Germany. War seems to be brought
to conclusion as Himmler, Rommel and many other nazi elites has either
    surrendered or been killed.

Underneath the ruins of Berlin, the remaining leaders are desperately planning
ways to keep Germany as a free country if Third Reich fall eventhough every single
day they receive new about new losses in battleground, troops surrendering and
    amount of gunshredder reaching zero.

    ---

We drop you near Brandenburg, a small town west from Berlin.
Once there you will meet with our contact, a former SS officer who worked on
attentat against Hitler. Thwn he will provide you with equipment and information
needed to reach the bunker (if the contact has been captured or you fail to meet
him for some other reason - you have to figure your own way through Berlin as we
are following strict radio silence after you have descended).

Once you get to the bunker, gain access to the lower levels as the main archives
are there (according to our contact) and collect all intellicensy as possible
(We have reason to believe the nazis are smuggling stolen treasures from Germany
to their secret stashes, also I there is unconfirmed rumors that the high nazi lead
have safe havens all across the Allied countries where they are going to hide when
    we win the war).

After you have gathered the information, leave without causing any unnecessary
ruckus - leave the massacre to the soviets.
In otherwords keep low profile as we want Hitler alive!

    ---

B.J. This will be your most dangerous mission as the nazis has fortified themselves
to the ruins and most likely you will face heavy resistance as the nazis have
retreated lots of soldiers from all battlefronts to defend the city (or atleast what
is left of it)... Also there is small possibility that you will caught in the bombings
aswell if you do not hurry (the propability is non-existant as scheduled airstrike is
plus five days from your arrive to Brandenburg).

Good luck B.J... You will need it.
    ===

*Originally I though that I would make the testmod as a sequel to Wintersturm
and send B.J. to germany interrupting V2 program but that sounded too much MoH,
so I decided to go with this one.

My mod 'Revenge!' is in the Reichstag and maybe also in the bunker.
Maybe I will Rename it to Reichstag.

Also do you mean the MoH game or my Wolf3D mod? I think the game.

Oh, really... I meant the original Medal of Honor that was published for psx,
in the final stage you infiltrated the V2 facility, sabotaged the gyroscope and then in
the final level you forced your way to the launching area to destroy the V2.

That looks great, as always. Hopefully, when I'm less busy, we can work on a mod again. If I remember correct, didn't I offer to make a map for Desert Fox? Razz

There is still few things to do but hopefully I get this done today...
It took a bit too long to make as I have a school assignment to make
    a game-engine (I decided to try shmups)...

Here is some screenies from my game engine...

Loading screen (Playing around with Paint.NET):
Status of ToS and Desertfox Floadm

Main menu (just a variation of the loading screen):
Status of ToS and Desertfox Mainmenu

Old ingame screenshot (NOTE: Scores wasn't shown in this version
but the newest version shows them):
Status of ToS and Desertfox Sgame1

Also this is how the game looks when you turn the debugger on:

Quick note: I forced the FPS to be at 40 since when the FPS rose to 60 or over in Vista,
the game went berserk and started to compute in hyperspeed...
